David Peters intent to run for Hempstead County Coroner

My name is David Peters and I am announcing my intention to seek the office of Hempstead County Coroner. My wife, Debbie, and I live in Patmos and have both been long time Hempstead County residents, as have our families.

I have spent the majority of my adult life in public service. I have been a Deputy Coroner for Hempstead County since 2013 and currently serve as Chief Deputy Coroner for Hempstead County Coroner Ben Brazzel. I was in law enforcement for approx. 16 years, having served as a Detective for the Hope Police Department and Chief Deputy for Hempstead County Sheriff Jerry T. Crane.

I am currently the Fire Chief for the Patmos Municipal Volunteer Fire Department. I am a certified Emergency Medical Responder and serve as Vice President for the Hempstead County Firefighter’s Association.

My experience as a Police Officer, First Responder and Deputy Coroner makes me uniquely qualified to serve as your Coroner. I have always believed that the Coroner’s position should be independent from any of our local Funeral Homes. I will maintain honesty and integrity in every situation, and will always work with all law enforcement agencies, Funeral Homes and families in a fair and equal manner.

I will appreciate your support and look forward to serving you as the Hempstead County Coroner.
