PRESCOTT – The Prescott Police Department has stepped up its fight against the illegal possession and distribution of controlled substances.
In 2017 under the direction of Detective Cody Ferguson, the Prescott Police Department effected 79 narcotic related arrests. This resulted in the seizure of approximately 750 grams of illegal narcotics (Marijuana, Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Hydrocodone, Xanax and Tramadol), four weapons, approximately 400 containers of illegally sold alcohol and close to $6,000 of narcotic funded money.
2018 has picked up right where 2017 left off. In the month of January, the PPD effected nine narcotic related arrests; resulting in the seizure of approximately 80 grams of illegal narcotics (Marijuana, Methamphetamine and Hydrocodone), one weapon, 12 articles of drug paraphernalia and over $400 of narcotic funded money.
On January 1, Det. Ferguson conducted a traffic stop on E. 2nd St. S. A white female driver, identified to be Angela Dillard, was found to be in possession of a methamphetamine pipe.
On January 12, Det. Ferguson conducted a traffic stop on W. Walnut St. A black male driver, identified to be Gary Hopson, was found to be in possession of approximately 95 Hydrocodone pills.
On January 13, Lt. Gamble and Officer Morris observed a black male known to have an active warrant, which was identified to be Anthony Phillips. Phillips was found to be in possession of a revolver, marijuana, methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe.
On January 22, Det. Ferguson, assisted by Morris, conducted a traffic stop on W. Main St. A white male driver, identified as James Payne, was found to be in possession of marijuana, marijuana pipe, methamphetamine, methamphetamine pipe and a scale.
On January 22, Det. Ferguson, assisted by Morris, conducted a traffic stop on E. 2nd St. N. A white male driver, identified as Chessland Fensler, and a white female passenger, identified as Jennifer Harrington, were found to be in possession of methamphetamine, three methamphetamine pipes, a marijuana pipe and approximately 20 Hydrocodone pills.
On January 23, Det. Ferguson conducted a traffic stop on E. Elm St. A white male driver, identified as Chance Steed, was found to be in possession of marijuana paraphernalia items.
On January 23, Morris conducted a traffic stop on W. 1st St. N. A white male driver, identified as Jessie Henderson, was found to be in possession of marijuana.
On January 23, Det. Ferguson encountered a black male, identified as Willious Block, during an investigation. Block was found to be in possession of a methamphetamine pipe.

Where are the haters? Every time ANYTHING bad happens ole Sam Smith doesn’t hesitate to say something about it. Yet something like this, which will actually make a difference in Prescott, doesn’t get a single attaboy. Great job PPD. Only way to get better is to start and you have to start somewhere.
