The Hope Lions heard a program from Hope City Manager Catherine Cook on Monday February 12th. Cook talked about the Hope Landfill. She noted the city has operated a landfill west of town since 1986. The city recently constructed a new Class 1 cell which cost $2.5 million dollars. This cell will add up to 38 years of capacity to the current landfill. Cook showed slides of the current landfill and retired landfill areas. Many were surprised to see the landfill was so clean and that the retired portions just look like pasture land.
