Civitan Holds Clergy Appreciation Banquet

The Hope Civitan Club held their annual “Clergy Appreciation Banquet” at the Dos Loco Gringos Meeting Room Tuesday February 27th. The club has the annual program in honor of four diverse clergy men who served on the Troop Ship “Dorchester” in February of 1943 gave their lives when the ship sank and took over 600 soldiers’ lives. Civitan Treasurer Debbie Hall read a mayoral proclamation signed by Mayor Steve Montgomery who also attended the program. Civitan President Twyla Pruden emceed the banquet assisted by President Elect Darrell Davis. The program was brought by Civitan Member and retired Navy veteran Allen Flowers. The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard posted the colors and taps was rendered via bugle by Rebecca Billings of the Sheriff’s Department.
