Hempstead County Historical Society Meets…Publications Available
The Hempstead County Historical Society met Tuesday April 26th at the Washington Presbyterian Church. The club heard a program from Josh Williams about his “Images of America” book on Washington. The book is still available on Amazon and locally at LaGrone Williams Hardware. Those who saw the program marveled at the business district Washington had, especially prior to the County Seat movie to Hope in 1940. Williams also noted the Historical Society also has some publications which were compiled locally on Hempstead County history including a book on Hempstead County veterans in World War II, books on Spring Hill and Columbus, and a book of Roy Anderson’s “Dear Folks” letters. All the publications are also available on disc including a book on the history of all the Hempstead County Courthouses. These publications are available at LaGrone Williams Hardware.
