BLEVINS – For 32 consecutive years, the Blevins community has held a fundraiser for the Arkansas Children’s Clinic.

This year was no exception as the community pulled together and put on a feast featuring smoked chicken, barbecue brisket and all the trimmings. All the food and serving items were donated which allows all money raised to be donated to ACH. This year, more than $10,000 was raised to help the hospital.

As is the norm, several items were up for auction, with two items up for raffle, a Henry .22 rifle and a 40-inch flatscreen television. Tickets for the raffle went fast, and bidders weren’t shy when it came to placing their bids on items they wanted.

However, most came for the meal, still $5 after the event’s inception. People were lined up at the serving tables before the food was brought in from the grills. It didn’t take long for the Blevins school cafetorium to fill with the smell of BBQ. The food was served almost as fast as it could be brought inside as the cafetorium stayed packed.

Area politicians were on hand to shake hands and ask for votes, as well as bid on the cake auction.
