PRESCOTT –  June 29 will be a special date for Prescott and Nevada County residents as a fireworks show will be held at Cummings Stadium.

Actually, the fireworks will be shot off from the baseball field at the Jones Sports Complex, while those watching the show will be in the stands at Cummings Stadium.

Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver said the city funded the event, adding the cost, $3,000, into the city’s budget, after First Baptist Church opted not to have a fireworks show this year.

Jamie Hillery, executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, said her office is working to get a live band to perform at the show. In addition, she said, there will be food trucks on hand in case anyone gets the munchies. This is a family event, and should be a great show lasting around 30 minutes.

“This will be our first one,” she said, “I hope we can make it an annual event.”

Patrons are encouraged to show up at 8 p.m., stake out their seats and get ready to enjoy themselves as the skies are lighted up with the fireworks display.
