PRESCOTT – On July 4, Chief Deputy Larry Miller and Deputy Bernard Box were dispatched to a residence on Nevada 8 near the Columbia County line in reference to a residential burglary.

Upon arrival family members were met at the residence whom stated that the owners Franklin and Jane Pennington had been contacted and were on their way home.

After the Pennington’s arrived they found numerous jewelry and coin items were missing along with a safe.

Chief Deputy Miller contacted investigators with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department advising them of the burglary due to location of the burglary.

On Thursday, July 12, Chief Deputy Miller was contacted by Investigator Leroy Martin with the Columbia County Sheriff department stating he had recovered a safe from the side of Columbia County Road 29 and items inside of the safe had the Pennington’s name on them.

Investigator Martin also advised that Lafayette County had individuals incarcerated at their facility who were in possession of items matching the description of possible property from the Pennington burglary.

Chief Deputy Miller contacted Sheriff Obie Sims from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, obtaining pictures of the items the suspects were in possession of. These items were later identified by the Pennington’s as belonging to them and missing from their residence.

Chief Deputy Miller and Investigator Robert Missey traveled to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s department and interviewed the suspects in custody there.
