There is much pain to endure when watching a loved one suffer from Alzheimer’s Disease.  However, amid the pain, there are glimmers of light that exists to remind us that the love a heart has once known, it shall never forget.  Over the past couple of years, we have treasured those small reminders.

Louise was an amazing mother and Nana; she loved antiques, glassware and her family.  Many of our fondest family memories were spent at Nana & Pop’s house – playing games, telling stories, hunting Easter eggs, shelling peas and of course eating!  Skillet potatoes, corn bread, peas, pies…you name it, she made it and we happily ate it!  There were also many boisterous late-night card games with Louise, Raymond, Mike, Becky, Ron and Jan!  Louise also enjoyed quilting and sewing with her sister and sister in laws.  Her grandchildren spent many nights with Nana & Pop where they enjoyed games like Go Fish, books like Green Eggs and Ham and Mr. Penny’s Circus and TV shows like Wheel of Fortune and Love Connection (Nana sure got a kick out of the couples who did not get along on their Love Connection dates!). And her laugh, she had an infectious laugh!   How lucky we were to have someone to love that makes saying goodbye so hard!

A special thanks to the staff at Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Prescott, Arkansas for their care and love during her final years. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
