August is 2/3rd gone and it’s turned out to be much wetter and cooler than normal. As of August 21st, the Southwest Research and Extension Center, Hope’s official weather station, has reported rainfall of 4.93 inches compared to normal rainfall for the month of 3.04 inches. So far this year, Hope has received 41.31 inches of rain compared to a normal of year-to-date average of 34.90 inches of rain. Currently, we are up 6.41 inches for the month. Temperatures have also proven to be much cooler with the high reported this month at 96 degrees on August 8th and 17th. There have been numerous days where the highs were in the 80’s. So far the low for the month came on the first 3 days of the month when 63 degrees was reported for a low temperature.
