The Hempstead County Quorum Court met Thursday September 27th for their regular monthly meeting. The ordinance passed.
The quorum court approved an appropriation ordinance to fund the director’s position for the 8th North Task Force. The task force has provided $6,000 to compensate the director of the task force . This will be disbursed through the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Department. Captain Frank McJunkins of the Sheriff’s Department is serving as the director of the task force. The work of the task force was praised by several JP’s.
Sylvia Brown brought some photos of the intersection of county road 21, county road 2, and West Avenue B. She asked that the county look at overgrowth at the intersection and pavement markings. Brown also asked about lighting and County Judge Morse noted the county has no lighting on roads but will look at Brown’s other concerns.
Judge Morse noted the county will be meeting with the courthouse architect next week. When it was asked about just meeting with one the judge noted there were two finalists but one’s proposal was $800,000 over the budgeted amount and the architect committee voted to eliminate that architect from consideration. The meeting then adjourned.
