Denny’s Place Ribbon Cutting

HOPE- A ribbon cutting was held this morning, October 23 at the Hope Academy of Public Service for Denny’s Place. Members of the community joined the faculty and students of HAPS to celebrate the ceremony. The garden was created in memory of Denny Dickinson. Mr. Dickinson served on the Hope school board along with being an active member in the school system and community. To start the ribbon cutting ceremony HAPS principal, Carol Ann Duke welcome guests to their campus and introduced guest speaker to lead a word of prayer. Hope City Mayor, Steve Montgomery then gave a few words stating how Denny would have loved that the community was here and the teachers but would’ve been more happy to see all the students who were present. Mrs. Kathy Dickinson gave a few words thanking those who attended and who have helped make the garden possible. She then introduced two master gardeners Nan Wright and Marlon Ward, who both have assisted the students in garden. Wright gave a statement of what all they have accomplished from the beginning to current, they have created the wood surrounded beds, they have placed the pavers in the shape of an “H” that students, family, and members of the community have painted, she also stated that each flower bed has a water system. She then thanked a list of those who have donated time, money, and energy into making the garden come together. The Hope High School drum line played as visitors toured the garden.
