Rose selected to ACDS board

CONWAY – The Arkansas Community Development Society (ACDS) held its annual conference on Oct. 17 at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.

The 2018 theme was “Storyboarding Your Community’s Future” and explored how stories and storytelling generate vision and motivate community residents.

Those participating heard leaders from around the state share their accounts of the power and success stories bring to community development initiatives. The keynote speakers were David Leckey, executive director of the Orton Family Foundation, and Pat Hart, principal of Hart Consulting and city council member in Gardiner, Maine. The two shared how “Heart and Soul”, a unique strategic planning process, has had success in communities across the country by having at its center a focus on listening to stories, collecting stories and helping communities learn to effectively tell the story of their community through planning efforts.

Officers were also elected at the meeting. They include: Tammie Rose, Southwest Arkansas representative and Prescott Community Development Director with the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development Office.
