Halloween in the Park fun for all

By submitted, 10/29/18 9:16 AM

WHITE OAK STATE PARK – On Saturday, White Oak Lake State Park hosted its 11th Annual “Halloween in the Park” event.

This event exists to give local residents the opportunity to bring their families to a safe place for the age old tradition of “Trick or Treating” and family fun. Campers decorate their campsites for a friendly competition with categories of “Best Overall”, “Best Theme”, “Most Creative” and “Camper’s Choice” and pass out candy to children during the evening. Also, food vendors are on site in case folks work up an appetite and the Nevada County School District’s FBLA Club performs a Haunted Trail for guests to participate, should they dare.

This year, more than 2,600 people attend the event from communities near and as far as Searcy. This event could not happen without the help of sponsors and volunteers from Arkansas Forestry Commission, Ouachita County Sheriff Reserves, Nevada County Sherriff Reserves, Arkansas State Parks Staff, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Upper White Oak Volunteer Fire Dept., Prescott Lion’s Club, The Walmart Foundation, R&R BBQ, Bounds Tire Service, and the countless park guests who have supported us in the last several years. This is just another great, family oriented event happening in YOUR Arkansas State Parks.
