Sterling Odis Keith

Sterling Odis “Sok” Keith, 86, passed away December 3, 2018 at his home in Hope, AR.  He was born January 3, 1932 in Hope to George W. and Edna Landers Keith.

After graduating from Hope High School in 1950, he attended Henderson State University before serving in the United States Army.  He was assigned to the Second Infantry Division, Korea.

He was an employee with Colonial Pipeline Company beginning in 1955 until his retirement in 1995.  During those years, he worked in Port Arthur, TX, Baton Rouge, LA and Meridian, MS.

During his 25 years in Meridian, he was active in Oakland Heights United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed singing in the choir and assisting with Boy Scout Troop 101.  After retirement, he returned to Hope.  He was a member of the choir and Century Bible class at First United Methodist Church. He participated in local organizations/activities, in addition to playing golf.  

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Audrey, son Don Keith and wife, Shara, of Canton, GA, granddaughter Ava Keith of Atlanta, GA, daughter Claire Keith Dowd of Hope, sister-in-law Joyce Beasley Keith, nieces and nephews, Paul Dowd and step-granddaughters Jessica Dowd Tallett, Lindsay Dowd Gathmann and Olivia Dowd Lewis.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers George V. and Philip I. Keith, sister Edna Virginia ‘Denny’ Holmes, a niece and nephew.

On December 15, 2018, after a private burial, a Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Hope.  Visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall.  Reverend Steve Johnson, Hope, AR and Reverend Rusty White, Ridgeland, MS will officiate.   All services are under the direction of HERNDON-FUQUA FUNERAL HOME of Hope, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the organization/charity of your choice.
