Hempstead County was one of the original five counties formed in Arkansas on December 15, 1818. This year, 2018, is the 200th birthday of the formation of the county. The Hempstead County Bicentennial Committee is planning a county celebration on Saturday, December 15.
A parade is planned for 1pm and the committee is asking for all communities of Hempstead County and organizations to enter floats or vehicles into the event. The parade will begin at the current courthouse on Washington Street. It will proceed down 5th Street to Elm Street and go to Division and then to Walnut Street ending at the Farmers Bank building. To register and enter the parade contact Ben Brazzel at ben.brazzel1975@gmail.com or 870-777-.6772.
