HOPE – The Randall Sanders Memorial Endowed Scholarship has been established at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana thanks to generous donations by family and friends of the late Randall “Randy” Sanders.

“The establishment of the Randall Sanders Memorial Endowed Scholarship will forever honor the life and legacy of a man who dedicated his life to the growth and success of others,” said Chris Thomason, Chancellor. “He used his talents to teach others not only a skill, but a means to provide for their families. His professional commitment contributed to a healthy economic future for our entire region. The future recipients of this scholarship will always represent Randy’s hope for all his students. In time, those students will join the countless past graduates who had their lives changed in the most positive way by a man who loved what he taught almost as much as he loved the students he affected.”

Randy was a beloved member of the technical and industrial faculty at UAHT for thirty-four years before retiring in 2016. Sanders time at the college began at Red River Vo-Tech as a student in the CETA Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Program from 976-77. He then took a job at Red River Vo-Tech as the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Instructor in July of 1982. In his time at the college, he served and excelled as a full-time instructor and Dean of the Technical and Industrial Professions division. Sanders was responsible for the growth and success of the T&I division for many years and worked hard to bring to light the importance of career and technical education.

“We would like to fervently express our gratitude for the UAHT foundation, the UAHT faculty and staff, and most importantly our dad’s colleagues and friends that have made this endowment possible,” said the Sanders family. “Special thanks to the UAHT Foundation; their tireless effort in the fundraising campaign made the difference in its success. Helping students learn a trade or skill to better themselves and their families is a wonderful way to continue our dad’s legacy. That mission was truly his passion, and now that will continue with this scholarship. We are forever grateful to the kind and giving people in this community as well as those that surround us.”
