Lady Wolves finish third in district track meet

PRESCOTT – The Prescott Lady Wolves competed in the Class 3A State Track Meet in Green Forest on April 30th and finished in 7th place with 39 points. 

Harding Academy won the championship with 71.50 points, followed by co-runner-ups Greenland and Green Forest with 56 points, Genoa Central was next with 52 points, Ashdown with 44, and West Fork with 41.  Hailey Patrick and Kiesha Johnson led the scoring for Prescott with 10 points each.  Patrick did it by finishing 5th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.51, 5th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.38, and ran the second leg of the second place 4×100 meter relay team.  Johnson did it by finishing second in the 400-meter dash and ran the anchor leg of the second place 4×400 meter relay team.  Kasheya Murphy scored 6 points by finishing 7th in the 200-meter dash (28.87), and ran on both the 4×100 and 4×400 meter relays that finished in second place.  Kamryn Collier finished with 4 points by getting 5th in the pole vault with a jump of 8-6, Fantasia Barmore finished with 3 points by finishing 8th in the 100 meter hurdles and ran on the 4×400 meter relay team, India Rooney scored 2 points by running on the 4×400 meter relay team and competed in the 300 meter hurdles (53.55), and Kendall Sands and Gabby Chandler both scored 2 points each.  Sands ran the first leg of the 4×100 meter relay and Chandler ran the third leg of the 4×400 meter relay.  The 4×100 meter relay team of K. Sands (12.68), H. Patrick (13.01), I. Rooney (12.37), and K. Murphy (14.00) finished in second place with a time of 52.53 and the 4×400 meter relay team of K. Murphy (63.78), F. Barmore (68.04), G. Chandler (67.01), and K. Johnson (65.69) also finished in second place with a time of 4:24.94.

The Lady Wolves finished in 3rd place at the 7-3A District Track Meet on April 23 with 140.5 points.  Genoa won the championship with 204.5 points, Ashdown finished as runner-up with 183.5 points, Centerpoint finished 4th with 58, Smackover fifth with 23.5, Bismarck sixth with 22, and Fouke did not score. Hailey Patrick led the way at the district meet with 26.5 points.  Patrick won the 100-meter dash (13.11), finished second in the 200-meter dash (27.42), finished fourth in the long jump (15-5.75), seventh in the triple jump (31-7), and ran the second leg of the winning 4×100 meter relay team.  Kasheya Murphy was next in scoring with 23 points.  Murphy won the 200-meter dash (27.32), second in the 100-meter dash (13.27), ran on the winning 4×100 meter relay team and the winning 4×400 meter relay team, and competed in the long jump (13-10.5), and the high jump (4-4).  India Rooney was next with 21 points.  Rooney did it by winning the 300 meter hurdles (51.14), finished third in the 100 meter hurdles (18.03), ran the third leg of the winning 4×100 meter relay team and the winning 4×400 meter relay team and also competed in the high jump (4-6), and the long jump (12-11.25).  Fantasia Barmore was next with 18.5 points.  Barmore finished second in the 100 meter hurdles (17.59), seventh in the 400-meter dash (68.15), third in the long jump (16-1.75), ran on the winning 4×400 meter relay team, and competed in the triple jump (31-5).  Kiesha Johnson scored 10.5 points by finishing second in the 400-meter dash and running on the winning 4×400 meter relay team, Kendall Sands scored 8.5 points by finishing 4th in the pole vault (7-6), 8th in the 100-meter dash (14.32), and ran on the winning 4×100 meter relay team, and Kamryn Collier scored 8 points by finishing second in the pole vault with a vault of 9-0 which is a new school record breaking Zoie Otwell’s previous record of 8-11.  Others that competed at the district meet were Ceirra Flemons (7), Tamia Gulley (4), Emily Henderson (3), Kyaira Pearson (3), Gabby Chandler (2.5), Jonay Roberts (1.5), Heavenly Zachery (1.5), McKenzie Loe (1), Brooke Formby (1), Essence Thomas, Sara Cobb, Nicki Johnson, Abbey Dougan, Kiana Lacy, Janiya Roberts, Holly Cummings, Jada Sharp, and Carly Vanhook.  The 4×800 meter relay team of Emily Henderson (2:58.94), Gabby Chandler (3:09.94), Heavenly Zachery (3:14.83), and Jonay Roberts (3:19.05) finished in third place, the 4×100 meter relay team of Kendall Sands (13.31), Hailey Patrick (13.15), India Rooney (12.43), and Kasheya Murphy (13.19) won with a time of 52.31, and the 4×400 meter relay team of Kasheya Murphy (61.95), Fantasia Barmore (68.69), India Rooney (64.76), and Kiesha Johnson (65.38) won with a time of 4:21.15. 

The Lady Wolves had a good season as they finished 9th in the Prescott Army National Guard Wolf Relays (37), 10th in the Ashdown Panther/Domtar Relays (16.5), 6th in the Prescott Merchant Relays (48.70), Runner-Up at the Genoa Dragon Relays (98) where Hailey Patrick won the high point award with 26.5 points, 7th in the Arkansas High Doc Walker Hog Relays (16), 4th in the Dequeen Collin Raye Relays, 11th in the Nashville Coca-Cola Relays, 3rd in the 7-3A District Track Meet, and 7th in the Class 3A State Track Meet.  The JV Team scored 4 points on the year for a total of 529.2 points, which averaged 58.8 points per meet.  Hailey Patrick was the season high point winner with 127.5 points and Fantasia Barmore was second with 101 points.  Both joined The Century Club by scoring over 100 points on the season.  Other team members are listed with their season point total:  K.
