Amateur Radio Operators Participate In International Event In Downtown Hope

A group of local amateur radio operators participated in an international event in downtown Hope Saturday at the Hub Pavilion. The enthusiasts were participating in an event sponsored by the American Radio Relay League. The contest was part of an effort to show Amateur Radio Operators’ ability to set up communications under adverse or emergency conditions. The group used a portable 40 foot tower to talk to similar enthusiasts around the world. Among those participating included Karmel Kuhn, Clayton Friend, Gary Martin, Jordan Braswell, and others. If anyone is interested they can contact Kuhn at 703-9619 or Gary Martin at 703-1820. The group has a Facebook page “Lower Arkansas Ham Operators Group” that the public can check.
