Emmet volunteers honored

EMMET – It was party time in Emmet Saturday evening as an appreciation dinner was held for the community’s volunteer groups.

Emmet Mayor Dale Booker lauded the different groups for the work they do in and for Emmet, reminding everyone the volunteers don’t get paid, though the community does benefit. He recognized the different groups – the Library Club, Emmet Vision Association, Emmet First Responders, Emmet Fitness, city employees and the members of the Emmet Volunteer Fire Department, also recognizing the VFD’s first fire chief, Bobby Harden, along with Maurice Grant and Luther Harris. He also gave a shout out to Nevada County Judge Mark Glass and his wife, Dee.

Entertainment was provided by “The Light is On”, who sang a mix of country, old rock and gospel. The meal was catered by Hwy. 67 Gas and Grill.

Door prizes went to several lucky people. “I appreciate everyone for coming out and showing their support,” Booker said. “We need to do this again soon.”
