Fincher out as Rosston treasurer
ROSSTON – Dana Fincher has been removed from her position as Rosston’s city treasurer.
This information was given to the Rosston City Council at its July meeting Monday evening. Rosston Mayor Dale Quarles said he “terminated” Fincher after she found a regular job and wasn’t able to take care of the city’s business in a manner he felt was needed. He told the panel Fincher did a good job, but city hall is busier than people realize.
Fincher has been replaced by Alicia Pearson, who was hired by Quarles. Questions were raised about the hiring without first consulting the council, but Quarles said the mayor has the right to hire without the council’s approval.
In other business, the council was told Quarles met with Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver and Executive Director of the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development Office Mary Godwin about the baseball fields. Quarles said he doesn’t just want the area to be for baseball, but wants a walking trail and fun park there as well and prefers to work in the project in stages. He told the council he’ll be going to the local banks asking for donations.
The council passed a resolution allowing the city to apply for a grant to purchase a firetruck.
Quarles said plans are being drawn up for the renovation and expansion of city hall, informing the council the building will be handicap accessible once the project is done. It will also have a meeting room and an office for the city treasurer, along with an expanded restroom.
