Belton Church Demolished

The last public building in Belton in northern Hempstead County has been demolished.  At press time, we couldn’t find the name of the church although the Merrill Cemetery is located beside it.  It is believed the cemetery was originally located in another part of the area which was claimed for the Southwest Proving Grounds.  The church hadn’t been active in years and part of it had caved in.
