NC Fair Sept. 7-14
PRESCOTT – It’s not too early to be thinking about entries for the 2019 Nevada County Fair.
This year’s fair will be Sept. 7-14, though entries from schools arts, craft photography must be entered by Sept. 5, between 8-10 a.m.
This is the only time school art will be accepted.
On Sept. 7, items for Taste of Nevada County can be set up. Items judges will be BBQ, coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad, bread, cornbread and desserts. Contestants can set up between 10-11:30 a.m. with judging to start at noon. At 1 p.m., the doors open for the community to enjoy what’s been cooked. The fee is $7 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.
Bingo will be played at 2 p.m. with the pet costume contest at 5 o’clock. The talent show will be held at 6 on the Potlatch stage.
Items that can be entered from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, are: arts, crafts and photography. Commercial and educational booths can also be set up at this time.
From 3-6 p.m. Monday, arts, crafts, quilts, household articles, food preservation, fall gardens, field crops and furniture can be entered. In addition, educational and commercial booths can be set up.
Also from 3-6 p.m. blood tests for chickens will be done at the county extension office, with this also being the check-in time for chickens.
Sept. 10, from 7:30-10 a.m., residents can enter arts, crafts, photography, quilts, household articles, food preservation, field crops, fall gardens, furniture and baked goods. Items can also be entered for the flower show.
Judging for the flower show will be at 11 a.m. with entries for all livestock set from 12-8 p.m. At 6 o’clock the annual fair parade will take place and the exhibit halls will be opened. The livestock weigh in will be at 8 p.m.
Wednesday sees the exhibit halls open from 5-9 p.m. and the livestock show at 6.
The exhibit halls will again be open from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, with the premium buyer’s meal set for 5:30 p.m., followed by the premium sale at 6:30.
Friday sees the exhibit halls open from 5-8 p.m. and judging for poultry and rabbits.
The big day will be Saturday when the exhibit halls are open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. The big events will be the pageants, which will be held at 10:30 a.m. for infant, baby, tiny and little miss contestants, and 5 p.m. for contestants in the petite, young, pre-teen, junior and queen divisions. The rodeo is set for 7 p.m. and ends the fair.
