Speer to speak at HCHS
HOPE – The Hempstead County Historical Society will be holding a meeting on Tuesday evening August 27, at the Presbyterian Church in Washington, Arkansas at 7pm.
The guest speaker for the evening will be Dr. Lisa Speer, University Archivist at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. Speer will talk about some of the amazing resources located at the OBU Archives ranging from the papers of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee to various church records from Baptist churches across the state of Arkansas. Several resources at the archives can be used for local research of places in Hempstead County. Dr. Speer has worked in the archives field majority of her life and worked in other university archives and also Director of the Arkansas State Archives.
The Historical Society seeks to bring awareness to the rich heritage and history of Hempstead County. Come and share your history with us.
