Bobcats take tough loss against Scrappers
The Hope Bobcats traveled to Scrapper Stadium to kickoff their 2019 season. The game started off with the Bobcats kicking off to the Scrappers. The Scrappers were not able to score during their first possession and punted to the Bobcats placing the ball on the Scrapper 49 yard line.
The Bobcats had a rough first possession of the ball; with a block in the back call being made. The Scrappers offense was moving slow taking the field but, had a big gain with the quarterback keeper up the middle for their first possession of the ball along with scoring their first touchdown of the night. The Bobcats mad a pass to Davis who broke off down the sideline for a gain of twenty yards leaving the ball at the 37 yard line. With a flag thrown for one play and confusion caused in the plan for the next, followed by an incomplete pass they had a turnover on downs. Penalties and bad calls kept the Bobcats back during the first quarter.
The Scrappers started the second quarter with a 21-0 lead. The first half of the game the Bobcats struggled with their offense and the play clock and not many first downs were made. They ended the half trailing to the Scrappers 35-0.
The second half of the game went by quickly with the mercy rule in effect and the clock continuing to run. The Scrappers made two more touchdowns ending the game with the final score of 56-0.
With a tough loss to start the season the Bobcats will travel to Ashdown next Friday to take on the Panthers.
