Gertrude Allen

Gertrude “Jude” Allen age 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior September 22, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born to the late Amos Green and Lola Purtle Dorman on March 18, 1926 in Nevada County. 

She married the late Chester Gordon Allen on January 12, 1946. Mrs. Allen was a seamstress and an active member of Bodcaw #1 Baptist Church. She was member of the Dorman Sister’s Quartet, which was her true passion. They sang at many churches, homecomings and revivals. Her love of the gospel was inspiring to many through her song and praise.

Jude is preceded in death by her parents, husband, all twelve siblings, two sons, Richard and Kendall Allen; grandson, Allen Baker; great grandson, Josh Turner.

She is survived by four children, Judy and Gary Baker, Marilyn Bobo, Tim and Portia Allen and Jan Allen all of Bodcaw; five grandchildren, Rich & Amber Turner, Scott & Loretta Baker, Timothy & Cheryl Allen, Christina Allen, Marlene & Chris Burk; ten great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and over fifty nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 6-8pm Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Homes Hope. Funeral service is 2:00pm Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home with interment to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Shover Springs. Bro. Charlie Warren will officiate under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home.
