New officers installed for Kiwanis Club

PRESCOTT – New officers were installed at Thursday’s meeting of the Prescott Kiwanis Club at the Nevada County Library.

Lt. Gov. Elmbert Bradley did the installation. The incoming board members are: Harding Deon, Fred Harris, Howard Austin, Tom Hand, Donisha Purifoy and Ronald Majors. The new officers are: Tammie Rose, president; Freddie Hamilton, past president; Bonnie Pruitt, president elect; Hyacinth Deon, secretary; and Barry Barber, treasurer.

Once the installation was done, the club discussed its upcoming fish fry fundraiser Oct. 4 at the Prescott Junior High School cafeteria. The fish will be purchased from Sam’s Club, with the school making room for it in the cafeteria’s freezers. Last year the club purchased 150 pounds of fish and french fries each. A list was provided showing what the club members would be responsible for cleaning and what the district would take care of . It was pointed out some members will need to show up on Oct. 5 to help clean the grease out of the deep fryers and dispose of it.

Members were told to arrive between 2-2:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 to help get ready for those patrons who show up early for carryout orders. Tickets are $10 per person. The lines will be split with one handling those who dine at the cafeteria and the other for carryout orders.
