Tri-Service sandwich day
PRESCOTT – Monday was sandwich day for the Tri-Service Club.
Members gathered in the kitchen and community room at the First United Methodist Church where the chicken salad was mixed up and the sandwiches were made. The members made and sold 360 sandwiches at $7.50 each. The deal included chips, a brownie and fruit cup.
This is the club’s annual fundraiser, with the money going back to the community as donations for different groups and organizations. The club has donated to the Nevada County Library, Prescott Parks and Recreation Department, 4H, Imagination Library, Master Gardeners, Hamilton House, Project Graduation, the Nevada County Depot and Museum and has bought vests for the Prescott Police Department.
According to Pat Grimes, the club donates an average of $3,000 a year to such groups and since 2011 has donated approximately $35,000.
Twenty-six members of the club were on hand to make and deliver the sandwiches. People who purchased them could also drop by the church and pick them up.
