Carolyn Shaw

Carolyn Jean Shaw- Washington was born on May 10, 1950 in Hope, Arkansas to the late Rosie Coleman Shaw and Alester Shaw Sr. She made her peaceful transition into God’s care on Sunday, November 10, 2019, with loving family by her side.

Carolyn was a loving and caring person with a quiet demeanor. She professed her life to Christ at an early age at Haynes Chapel Baptist Church in Hope. She attended Hope public schools before moving to California where she would spend a few years, before returning back to Arkansas.

Before marrying the love of her life, Luther, she was blessed with three wonderful children, that Luther cared for as his own. Carolyn worked at Heather Manor Nursing Home for 38 years before her Health began to fail her.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Luther Washington of Hope; two daughters:Lorna Arbree of Kansas City, Kansas and Leia Jackson of Hope; one son, Antonio Shaw and wife Jollean of Bellingham Washington; one brother, Calvin Shaw of Dallas, Texas; 10 grandchildren: Monquisha, Smeasia, Smeqaleia, Lil Stacy, Damon, Antoine, Ammaya, Bo, Justin and Erica; 13 great-grandchildren: Eliaha, Javonte, Jamarion, Justin, Amreauna, Tevin, Mason, Malachi, DeAngelo, Kaleia, Kambri, Leilani, Raniyah; In Laws, Paula, Fartrisha, Teresa, Shasmakelia, Linda and husband, Darrion, Doylon Jr. and wife, Dana, Michael and wife, Carolyn, Jackie and wife, Virgie all of Hope. Vivian, Keisha and James Charles all of Kansas City and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,other relatives and friends. 

There will be a Celebration of Life service for Carolyn at 1:00 pm, at Haynes Chapel Baptist Church, in Hope, on Saturday, November 16. Her earthly body will be laid to rest at Scott’s Memorial Cemetery inPerrytown.
