Curtis visits with Hope Civitan Club
Mikki Curtis, dean of Secondary Programs at the University of Arkansas Hope/Texarkana, addressed the Hope Civitan Club Tuesday, November 12, and is pictured with Civitan President Eva Morehead (left). Curtis explained the Hope Collegiate Academy and the Secondary Career Center programs, both located on the Hope and Texarkana campuses of UAHT. She said the programs were created to allow students to simultaneously earn high school diplomas and college credits. The programs offer trade skills such as welding, certified nursing assistant, and others leading to Certificates of Proficiency. Those credits can then be applied towards associates or bachelors degrees if a student wishes to further his education, either at UAHT or at a four-year institution. The programs are free to students in Hempstead County and the surrounding area. For more information, Curtis may be reached at UAHT.
