PRESCOTT – Santa was in the house Saturday for the annual Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce’s Breakfast with Santa.

People were lined up outside the Potlatch Building waiting for the event to begin, but were required to be patient until 9 a.m. when the doors opened. Members of the Chamber”s board and Nevada County Junior Auxiliary geared up inside, getting everything ready for the meal, waffles and bacon with juice, chocolate milk or regular milk. They manned the different stations and prepared for the onslaught.

When the doors opened, the crowed literally poured in, first heading to the breakfast area to load up on carbs for the rest of the morning. After the children finished eating, the fun began as roughly 100 had their photos taken with Santa.

The most popular booth, though, was Bingo, as the winners were able to select the toy of their choice. The toys were provided by the Swamprider Motorcycle Club during the club’s annual toy drive last month.

The Potlatch Building was packed to the rafters with children and their parents, all out to meet Santa and have fun. The mailbox for Santa letters was full to overflowing as youngsters took time to let St. Nick know they’ve been good and what they want for Christmas this year.

Children also colored pictures, made magic reindeer food, decorate cookies and made Jingle Bell necklaces. The reindeer food ran out fairly quickly as did the cookies. However, youngsters also had fun tossing beanbags at the snowman, with the prize being a bag of marshmallows. The marshmallows didn’t last long either, and, at times, were used as projectiles thrown toward the snowman.

Every child went home with something as the Chamber prepared gift boxes for children based on their age.

Additionally, Food Share did well, getting a truck load of canned goods donated by patrons of the event.
