Mrs.Jodie Modisett

Jodie Briggs was born on Wednesday, October 26, 1938 to the late James and Mary Briggs in Hope, Arkansas. Jodie graduated from Yerger High School with the Class of 1957. She was married to John Benjamin Modisett Sr., and to this union 5 children were born; John Jr., Mary, Sequoiah, Donna, and Jerome.

Mrs. Jodie was also a dedicated member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses for over 50 years. She loved witnessing, gardening, sewing and caring for animals. Mrs. Jodie also enjoyed staying beautiful by keeping her nails polished and lipstick on when she went out.

Affectionately known as “Big Momma,” Mrs. Jodie passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the age of 81. She will be remembered in our hearts forever.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Bejamin Modisett Sr.; parents, James and Mary Briggs; brother, Jerome Briggs; and son, John Modisett Jr.

Mrs. Jodie leaves to cherish her memories; children, Mary (Willie) Martin, Sequoiah (Wilton) Modisett-Adams, Donna Modisett, Jerome (Renika) Modisett and stepdaughter, Jennie (Jake) Martin; sister, Melrosie Johnson; grandchildren, Thaao Modisett, LaWanda Porter, Rodrick Martin, Lisa (Russell) Collins, Kayla Martin, Russell Collins, Shauntonio Frierson, Jawaine Frierson, Sequoiah Anderson, Jade (Brian) Miles, James Holston, John Holston, Jodie (Antonio) Holston-Monk, Justin Holston, Michael Modisett, Kariyma Box, Na’Iyma Box, Stacey Modisett, Khalyl Box, Jeremy Modisett, Jerome Modisett Jr., Jequala Modisett, Rotonya Washington-Sterling, Ronald Martin, and a host of family members and friends who loved her dearly.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date. A very special thank you to all of those who have supported this family during this time. Your love and prayers are deeply appreciated.
