PRESCOTT – Over the past six months things have been progressing at the Prairie D’Ann Battlefield.

According to Judy Duke, curator of the Nevada County Depot and Museum, much has been done to improve the area. Volunteers from Enable Gas Transmission of Emmet put in 60 hour of community service to clean up the property the museum owns at Highway 19 by Casa Carlos. The volunteers used company equipment to bush hog, clear brush, weed eat and clean the land. Those involved were: Harry Hickey, George Schmitt, Jeff Ellis, Jacob Dearinger and Nick Gilbert.

In addition, this past weekend nine volunteers from the Southwest Arkansas Rendezvous Reenactor’s group worked with Paul Ridgell on the property. They worked on the roads and made preparations for bridgework to be done adjacent to Hwy. 19 and Exit 46 on I-30. The group also broke up beaver dams in a pond on the property. Overall, they put in 80 hours of community service. Those involved with this project were: Doyle Richie, Marsha Kimberly, Lorie Bennett, Denise and Abby Reed, Steve Holmes, Carol Fritz, Teresa Lafferty, James Thompson and Ridgell.
