Spring Hill Names New Superintendent

The Spring HIll Public Schools have a new superintendent.  He is Tom Wilson and he brings over 40 years of experience to the south Hempstead County Schoool.  Wilson will begin his tenure as Superintendent in July although he is coming to Spring Hill several days a week now.

Wilson is a graduate of Watson Chapel High School near Pine Bluff.  He has a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Masters of Science in Education from Henderson State University.  His principal’s certification and administrator’s certification comes from the University of Arkansas.

The new Spring Hill Superintendent’s teaching career goes back to 1972.  His administrative career goes back to the late 1970’s at Eudora Jr. High.  He has served as Superintendent at Gillett, England, DeWitt, Barton Lexa, and Mt. Ida.

Wilson says he is looking forward to working at Spring Hill.  “Schools are different and have different needs.  I hope I can provide the experience and leadership to make Spring Hill a better school district for the students, parents, staff and community.  Spring Hill also has a lot of school pride.  We will build on that pride to be the best we can be!!   I believe in the TEAM approach.  Together Everyone Achieves More!   I also keep a paddle on my desk that has “ No Excuses” on it.  Excuses set up failure.   I expect employees to do the best job they can do.”

When asked about the situation with COVID-19, Wilson answered, “We have all been taken out of our normal routines.  The coronavirus has created a different normal.  We will adjust to it and follow the direction of  our Governor and Education Commissioner in providing the best education possible for our students.”
Our best wishes go to Mr. Wilson as he begins his new job at Spring Hill this summer and we wish the best to retiring Spring Hill Superintendent Carroll Purtle.
