Virda “June” Newton

Virda “June” Newton, age 88, a lifelong resident of Hope, Arkansas passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 9, 2020 in Texarkana, Texas. She was born June 17, 1931 in Fulton, Arkansas.

She graduated from Guernsey High School in 1948. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Hope, AR. After retiring from Hope Police Department, she continued working part time at Wilson Furniture. She loved working in her beautiful flower gardens, spending time with family, researching genealogy and overnight trips with family and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents, P.B. & Corrie Vann Faris; one son, Mike Newton; two brothers, Delma Ray and Emmet Faris; four sisters, Selma Faye, Virginia Quillin, Bernice Powell and Louise Powell; and one great-great grandson.

June is survived by two sons, Chris (Priscilla) Newton of Hope, AR, Kenny (Donna) Newton of Texarkana, TX; a daughter-in-law, Marla Newton of Texarkana, AR; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Martinez, Keri Link, Hannah (Jamie) Powell, Patrick Newton, Josh Newton, John (Cassie) Newton, Eli (Lynn) Newton and Justin Newton; ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She had a special friend, Avis Faulkner.

Visitation will begin 1:00pm until the 2:00pm funeral service will Friday, June 12, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Hope. Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville, AR. Bro. Casey Curtis and Bro. Daniel Bramlett will officiate under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home Hope.
