SARATOGA/COTTONSHED – HopePrescott.com recently reported on bank fishing enhancements on Millwood Lake. Millwood Lake Guide Service reports some additional work has been done:

“Bank fishing opportunities continue to grow at two popular fishing spots on Millwood Lake. AGFC District 7 personnel have been collecting unused oak pallets to repurpose for fish habitat from other AGFC programs including Andrew Hulsey Fish Hatchery in Hot Springs and Wildlife Management Division Biologists in western Arkansas. Scrap PVC pipe provided by local fiber optic contractors was used to attach vertical “limbs” to the pallets to form artificial stake beds. These shallow water stake beds make ideal fish habitat for various sunfish species and were placed in waters less than 5 foot deep for bank anglers to target. Approximately 34 of the 4’x4’x4’ pallet stake beds have been sunk using concrete blocks at popular bank fishing areas near Cottonshed and Saratoga accesses. The sites will soon be available at www.agfc.com on the “Fish Attractors” page and in the AGFC Interactive Mapper.
