PRESCOTT – A blown tire resulted in a trailer fire shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday at the TA truck stop.

According to initial reports, the contents of an R/L Carrier trailer caught fire because of a flat tire. The contents of the trailer were destroyed. Two crews from the Prescott Fire Department were on the scene, working to get the trailer’s cargo door open so flames could be extinguished. This was a problem as the door was literally welded shut by melted plastic bottles. Firefighters eventually got the door open enough to get a hose in.

A Bobcat was brought out to help lift the cargo door and allow firemen greater access to the trailer’s contents, which appeared to be small plastic bottles and plastic zip ties. No one was injured in the incident.
