Hope, Arkansas – Local attorney and current candidate for Prosecuting Attorney of Hempstead and Nevada Counties, Blake Montgomery, has been appointed to the Arkansas Bar Association Legislation Committee by Arkansas Bar President Bob Estes. The Legislation Committee is responsible for deciding the Association’s position on pending legislation before the Arkansas General Assembly and supporting the Association’s lobbyist in effecting those positions.

“This is the hardest working and one of the most important committees in the Bar and it’s an honor to be reappointed by President Estes,” Montgomery said. This is Montgomery’s second consecutive term on the Legislation Committee, having been appointed for his first term by then Bar President Paul Keith. Montgomery also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Arkansas Bar Association, having been elected in 2021 to represent Southwest Arkansas for a three-year term.

Montgomery opened his law practice in Hope in 2015 and, in 2018, was appointed by Gov. Asa Hutchinson to serve on the Arkansas Public Defender Commission which oversees the public defender system. He is currently slated as a candidate for Prosecuting Attorney of Hempstead and Nevada Counties for election on May 24, 2022.
