The Hope Lions heard from Lt. Col. (ret.) Mark Hart of the Hope High ROTC program.  Lt. Col. Hart is in his 4th year with the Hope JROTC program.  He came to Hope through his cousin, former school Superintendent Bobby Hart.

He told the club ROTC “develop citizens of character”.  Lt. Col. Hart said they prepare their cadets “for life…using military means”.   These students learn self-discipline, physical fitness, and wear their uniforms to honor those who served in the past.  The students get two classes, leadership education and aerospace education.

Lt. Col. Hart outlined a variety of community service the cadets offer including the presentation of colors, parades, “adopt a highway”, and working with the CADC food bank in Hope and other communities.

There are currently 61 students in JROTC at Hope High.
