Scholarships available for local seniors

PRESCOTT – Though the second semester of school just started, it’s already time for seniors to begin applying for scholarships to help pay for their college or post-secondary education.
Here are some local scholarships available for area students, the requirements for them and deadline for applying.
Local Scholarships
Junior Auxiliary of Nevada County
- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, enrolled in a college, university or vacation/technical school as a full time student
- Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Applicant must demonstrate financial need
- Deadline: March 31st
Prescott Kiwanis Club
- Applicant must have a minimum composite score of 20 on the ACT.
- Applicant must provide a list of volunteer hours, honors, and demonstrate financial need
- Deadline: March 31st
Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship
- Applicant must be a Nevada or Prescott High School Senior
- Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 to be considered for the scholarship and preference will be given to those with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better.
- The applicant must plan on attending a 2 or 4 year college or technical school.
- Two letters of recommendation must be submitted with application:
- One from a counselor or teacher from your school.
- One from a person in your community or a church member.
- Applicant must write a paragraph on their career goals.
- Deadline: April 8th
Nevada County Farm Bureau
- Student or Parent must be a member of the Nevada County Farm Bureau for at least 2 years.
- Student will attend an Arkansas College.
- Student will maintain a 2.5 GPA in college and have had a 3.0 average or higher in high school.
- Student must be a high school senior in good standing.
- Students that want to major in agriculture will be given priority but the scholarship may be awarded to a non-agriculture field.
- Student must be recommended by the high school
- Deadline: May 1st
