New Year Starts Out Cooler Than Normal and Drier Than Normal

Data released by the Southwest Research and Extension Center, the official weather reporting station for Hope shows January started out the year cooler and drier than normal.  The average temperature for the month of January was 36.03, 6.07 degrees cooler than the normal average of 42.10 degrees.  The coldest low temperature was 15 recorded on January 22nd.  The next coldest low was 19 on January 3rd.  In addition to the two lows in the teens, January recorded 17 days with lows in the 20’s.

The high temperature for the month was 75 recorded on January 2nd.

Rainfall has been lower than normal this month.  1.88 inches was received for the month. This compares to a normal total of 4.15 inches.  Hope is starting the year 2.27 inches down from normal.
