John Edward “Johnny” Calley, 75, of Gurdon, AR went to be with his Lord Tuesday, January 25, 2022, in Little Rock, AR.

Johnny was born September 10, 1946, in Gurdon, AR to Roland F. and Lois Edmonds Calley.

Johnny owned and operated Calley’s Station in Gurdon for 55 years and attended Gurdon First Assembly of God Church. He was dedicated to serving the people of Gurdon, Clark County, and customers from all South Arkansas. He had a huge heart and took great pride in helping others.

True or not, he was a master story teller, instigator of many pranks and loved by all. He graduated from Gurdon High School in 1964 and is remembered as the friendliest, favorite, and sometimes class clown in the annual Who’s Who published in the Devil Sheet.

Johnny loved his family dearly and he loved Hot Rods almost as much. His pride and joy was a white 63 Impala Super Sport with a 409 engine, dual 4-barrel carbs and 4 speed transmission.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Roland Earl Calley.

Survivors include the love of his life for almost 54 years, Reia Gills Calley of Gurdon; two sons Paul Calley (Laryssa) of Benton and Nick Calley (Yolanda) of Gurdon; a daughter Jeanie White (Kelly) of Gurdon; six grandchildren Kenzee Wineland (Cody), Kurt Calley (Brenna), Calley White (Logan Warlick), Garret White, Cain Calley, and Carley Calley; two great grandchildren Colt Warlick and Rynn Wineland; and life-long best friend Dickie Davidson.

Honorary Pall Bearers are all of Johnny’s great friends that are too numerous to list.

In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to First Assembly of God Church in Gurdon PO Box 213 Gurdon, AR. 71743 or Gurdon Football Booster 9660 Hwy 51 South Okolona, AR. 71962.

Visitation will be 5-8pm Friday, January 28, 2022, at Beech Street Baptist Church Gurdon, AR.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, 2:00pm at Cabe Auditorium, on the campus of Gurdon High School, with Bro. Travis Langley and Bro. Steve Stephens officiating.
