PRESCOTT – There’s a second food pantry in town.

The Prescott Rotary Club has set up a small pantry at Curry’s Community Outreach Center where local residents can come and get what they need, or donate to help others. Club member Patricia Roberts made the suggestion at a recent meeting. The box was donated by Dr. Mike Young’s mother. Members fill the box, which is being used, and said anyone can donate as long as the products aren’t out of date. The motto for the pantry is “Take what you need, leave what you can.”

At Thursday’s Rotary meeting, the club voted to sponsor a Pee Wee baseball team this year, and will man the concession stand for home games, providing snacks and drinks to the fans.

In addition, the club voted to raffle off another smoker/grill this year, getting it made by the University of Arkansas at Hope/Texarkana. Drawing for the grill will be May 27.

The club will also be sponsoring a community coffee at the Nevada County Library on March 31 from 9:30-11 a.m. Billie McCain will be honored, with her family invited. McCain was a Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow.
