Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Broussard passed away Friday, February 18, 2022, at the amazing age of 95 in Texarkana, Texas. She was born on April 29, 1926 in Rosston, AR, daughter of the late Joe David and Ena McKissack Smyth. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Reyburn Smith, husband Paul Broussard and her sons Michael Smith and David Smith.

Dorothy is survived by her grandchildren: Todd Smith, Troy Smith, Tara Stoddard, Tess Smith, Trey Smith and Tate Smith; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many other beloved relatives and friends.

Dorothy lived a full life, and by choice, spent her final years near her hometown of Rosston at Heather Manor in Hope, AR. She loved her family and friends deeply and she was truly loved by all who were lucky enough to know her. She was the best hostess in town, and her home was always warm and inviting. Her grandchildren all carry on traditions she started, including singing “How many eggs do you want this morning?!” to their children and overnight guests (much to their amusement). She kept her sense of humor to the very end, always quick with a quirky bit of wisdom – “You just got to work with what you got!” – or a hilarious observation, many too spicy for print.
Everyone was welcome into her home and her life with open arms. She saw the absolute best in everyone and everything, and she faced both good times and bad times with the same positive outlook and managed to always find the silver lining. She was vibrant, fun and the life of every party.

Dorothy “Dot” Broussard will be truly missed by all of those still here on Earth, and she will certainly be celebrated in heaven above.

A family service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 10:00am at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home, 1001 S. Main, Hope, AR 71801. Burial to follow at Rosston Cemetery.
