EMMET – In a special meeting of the Emmet City Council, Friday, the panel voted to purchase a new backhoe.

The backhoe the city will be buying is a 2001 New Holland with 1,800 hours on it. The city will get $10,000 for trading in its current backhoe, which is almost 30 years old, and pay $26,000 for the new one. Emmet Mayor Dale Booker said the payment will be made from Emmet’s depreciation account, with the city making monthly payments to replenish the account.

The backhoe is being bought from Fallon Tractor Co. of Magnolia.
