Smith scored perfect 10 at gymnastic competition

HOPE — Local gymnast Zoie Smith scored a perfect 10 on the uneven bars at the XCEL Showcase in Houston on Sunday, March 26, securing the individual gold medal in the Silver division.
Smith, a Hope resident, is one of 20 athletes that compete for the Northeast Texas Elite Gymnastics team based in Texarkana, Texas. She also received a bronze medal in the floor category and a silver medal on vault, surpassing the talent of 60 other athletes in her division.
Smith’s placings helped her Northeast Texas Elite team secure the overall gold team medal, as well.
Smith is a second grade student at William Jefferson Clinton Primary School in Hope, Ark. She is cheered on at all of her competitions by her parents, Bryan and Emily Smith, and brother, Blake Smith.
