It will be buying 10 laptop computers for seniors this year. In addition the club buys socks for nursing home residents and toys for underprivileged children at Christmas, along with helping Hamilton House. “We try to help those in need,” she said.

Elaine Williams is the incoming president said this will be an exciting year as, “We will paint the town with Rotary.” Williams told the audience the club members want to live the motto of “Service above Self”.

The club, she continued, plans on doing two or three projects a month. Williams encouraged those interested to contact any club member if they want to join.

Young pointed out the club meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at Curry’s Community Outreach Center at noon. She invited anyone interested to visit.

Young also reminded those on and Billie McCain was the first woman to join Rotary, adding some men quit when she joined. However, McCain continued being a member and eventually was named a Paul Harris Fellow.
