Mr. James “Jim” Vaughan Jr. age 91 of Hope, Arkansas, passed away Monday April 11, 2022. Jim was born in Orlando, Florida on November 16, 1930. He graduated from Carlisle Military School in Bamberg, SC. during WWII . He enlisted in the Air Force in September 1949, ending his service as s Medical SSgt. In March 1953. He then attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. While in college he applied to become an FBI agent and during one of his final exams was contacted by the FBI and sent immediately for FBI training in Quantico, Va. He worked for the FBI for 10 years and was them employed by Southwestern Bell as head of security for the entire state of Texas and retired in 1994 to Hope, Arkansas making it his home.

Jim was a devoted member and Treasurer of the FIRST United Methodist Church of Hope and Century Bible Class, a 27-year member of Hope, Lions Club, member of Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, Pioneers of Southwestern Bell and Secretary of the School Board of Lake Hill Preparatory School in Dallas, Texas.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and son David. He is survived by his wife Judy and his children, James (Susan) Vaughan, Leah Moore, Jamie (Matt) Tracy, Mitch (Nilam) Vaughan, Sherry (Byrom) Walker and Sam Vandiver; grandchildren Shelby, Chris, Shelley, Brandy, Sherry, Samantha, Collin, Breanna, Lakshmi, Arjun, Anjali, Jonah, Noah, Annie, Samuel, 13 great-grandchildren and two sister-in-laws, Mary Coffee and Sharon Grant.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday April 15, 2022, at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest 1001 South Main St. Hope Arkansas 71801

Funeral service will be 10:00am on Saturday April 16, 2022 at First United Church of Hope, with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial to follow with Air Force military Honors.
