PRESCOTT – Due to the heat and humidity, the 2022 Prescott High School graduation ceremony was moved inside the Prescott Sports Complex, where the air conditioning was appreciated.

The ceremony lasted a little more than half-an-hour as there were no senior speeches. The stairs to the court were taped off to prevent people from coming down after the graduation concluded. The audience was told they could meet with the graduates outside the gym once it was over.

Prescott School Superintendent Robert Poole thanked everyone for coming, reminding them this wasn’t the end, but the beginning as the 63 graduates will be embarking on a new phase of their lives. He said the Prescott School District will always be there for their children.

Honor graduates were recognized, starting with the highest honors. They were: Megan Avery, Jared Bolanos, Kiesha Johnson, Jodie Lathrop and Judd Milam. Honor grads were next: Akari Brady, Cassidy Christopher, Kamryn Collier, Brooke Formby, Nicholas Gill, Tamia Gulley, Shytavia Hopper, Tryston Pettit, Jada Purifoy and Layla Purtle.

This was followed by the awarding of diplomas and the confirmation of the graduates.

Being indoors didn’t matter as, at the conclusion, the graduates flung their mortarboards into the air in celebration.
