Leon Neal

Mr. James “Leon” Neal, age 94 passed away Thursday June 23, 2022, at his home. Leon was born on September 22, 1927, in Hope, Arkansas, to Brantley and Ida Brown Neal. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1947 and spent 18 months in Japan following WWII upon his return to Hope he worked at Pop Cola and Coca Cola Bottling Companies. He later went to work for the Hope Police Department from 1965 to 1988 retiring as Sargent after 23 years while maintaining his part-time job at Smith Generator. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church, was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Charles Neal, Roger Neal, sisters: Inez Malone and Alice Smith.

His hobbies included building kit cars, going to the lake but most of he was a devoted loving husband to his wife father to their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren bringing him the most happiness during his retirement years. Leon was truly made from The Last of a Great Generation.

Survivors include: his wife of 73 years Ulda Smith Neal, two daughters: Rhonda Reese, (Gary), Kim May (Greg) one brother: Donald Ray Neal three:  granddaughters: Christie Waller (Todd), Rachel Featherston (Charlie) Ashley Jensen five great-grandchildren: Colton Featherston, Blake Waller, Kara Watson. Wesley Featherston, Trevelle Watson, a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00pm on Monday June 27, 2022 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest 1001 South Main St. Hope, Arkansas 71801

Funeral service will be 2:00pm on Monday June 27, 2022 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest with Bro. Casey Curtis officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Municipal Police Honor Guard.
